Golf

On the 12th tee at Meadowbrook Farms

I've played golf off and on for most of my life but decided to start playing more seriously in 2001. It's a lot of fun and it's pretty good exercise but I really feel most at home when I'm on the course.

I really enjoy playing in scrambles. It's a lot more fun when you have 4 people all playing from the same spot and the team can shoot a pretty low score. I've been on teams that have won a few times with the latest one being at the 2007 Harrah's Employee tournament at Rio Secco golf course. I made an eagle on a short par 4 that I can drive which won the tournament for us. I have to give credit to Bill and Cici for making some great shots too. Without them, we would have never won the tournament.

I played in a men's league for a few years at Wildhorse Golf Club. Mostly it's just a bunch of guys that are retired and just want to play golf but there are some pretty good players in the league. We mix it up each week to keep it fun. We play a 4 man scramble, 2 man scramble, alternate shot and individual gross and net. So far, the best I've done is finish 3rd in a 2 man scramble. My best score in the league so far is a 78 which put me in 2nd place for the day. The only thing that is frustrating about a league is you get a lot of sand-baggers out there. I play an honest game and expect the same in return but some people just don't get it. So, I just go out there to have fun.

My buddy Strick took a picture of one of my favorite holes. It's the 12th hole at Meadowbrook Farms in Katy, TX. In this picture, the green is just over the bunker on the left. That's me on the same tee box in the picture. I had a 377 yard drive on this hole which was my record for a long time. Now, it's 380 yards on the 16th hole at Wildhorse.

Harrah's 2007
Golf Tournament
CHAMPION - LOW NET

I've made several eagles but this is one of the most memorable. It was on the 13th hole at Rio Secco. It was playing about 275 and my drive hit the green but carried onto the hill behind. I chipped it in from about 20 feet for eagle.

Oh yeah, that was a great bunker shot.
